FAQ:
Q: Do I need art experience to participate?
A: Absolutely not! This creative experience will be focused on the process of creating rather than the end result. This means that we wont be focused on using specific techniques or practicing specific skills. All that is required is for you to be open to a new experience and let yourself be guided by your curiosity.
Q: Do I need special art materials to practice?
A: You are free to practice with whatever art materials you have available. All of the exercises I offer are designed for you to be able to practice with any tools you have available. Any of the following will work: crayons, colored pencils, markers, paint, colored pens, chalk, pastels. I also recommend using an art journal or notebook so that you have your work safe in one place.
Q: Is this art therapy?
A: Though these exercises may be therapeutic, this is not art therapy and I am not an art therapist. Art therapy is a completely different field of practice where you receive professional guidance from a certified art therapist. In this workshop we will not be interpretting artwork, prescribing art directives and exercises or discussing personal details. This workshop is designed for you to explore at your comfort and in your own way.
Q: Do I have to share my artwork?
A: You do not have to share your artwork and you are free to participate at your comfort level. We will have the chat, audio and video options available for you to participate as you like. We will offer a time and space at the end of our workshop if you'd like to talk about your experience or share your artwork.
Q: What makes this workshop trauma-informed?
A: This workshop is structured and offered in a way that acknowledges the lived experience of trauma survivors. Eve facilitates with an understanding of the impact of trauma in the body and the way that trauma impacts how survivors experience the world. Eve offers a variety of options and considerations that center each individual and empowers participants to engage in the ways that feel most authentic to them. Above all, Eve knows that survivors are in complete choice as they move through the workshop.
